Flight and Arrival Information

Please keep in mind you MUST arrive in Madrid on Sunday, January 22, 2017, and you are responsible for booking your own flight. Housing is available only for the dates of the program (January 22 – May 12, 2017) so if you plan to arrive early or leave late, please be aware you will be responsible for your own accommodations.  You can access the program calendar here.

NYU Madrid site staff will be at Madrid-Barajas International Airport (MAD) on January 22, 9am-1pm, to greet you. Many flights leave the night before and will likely arrive in the morning. You may want to keep this in mind when you are booking flights; however, a detailed arrival cheat sheet will be provided for those arriving outside this window closer to departure. When the student meets site staff at the airport, a staff member will accompany the student to the bus which will be taking all NYU students to the residence in the center of Madrid. Those students staying in homestays can take a taxi from the residence to their assigned homestay in Madrid. Detailed arrival instructions will be provided before departure, including how to arrive to the residence halls from different airports, information about where to find staff at the airport and important phone numbers to keep before the semester starts.

When shopping for flights, you are welcome to use any provider of your choice, but we encourage you to use NYU’s preferred partner, Egencia, to buy your ticket. Please see the following egencia instructions for info on how to book your flight through Egencia.

Please note:  All students will be required to submit their flight details. Instructions for doing so will come later on in the semester!
